Daily Botanical: Distinctly Canadian Seedlings

Nicole, one of the members of the You Grow Girl Seedling Growing Collective, brought some of her newly started seeds over to the greenhouse on Saturday where they will benefit from the warm and sunny growing conditions. When I saw the recycled cups she was using — the possible former home of a double-double — I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots.
I know Tim Hortons is available in the U.S. now-a-days, but we Canadians still consider it a distinctly Canadian institution. That’s our crappy coffee, damn it!

What a great idea! I have a collection of outer “short” cups from Starbucks that I no longer have a use for because I switched to a reusable mug. I could totally use them for seedlings. :-)

Lori: Used coffee cups of all sizes are awesome for seed starting. I save any I happen to get religiously.

What a great use for the cups that the city won’t let us recycle… :)
If I drank coffee, I’d totally use these too!

Ha! I have heard about Tim Hortons from my Canadian friends…here in MA we have a Dunkin’ Donuts on every other block.
Great idea. Now how about those takeout pizza boxes you can’t recycle that my husband accumulates?

That’s hilarious! I do the exact same thing.

Aw, I love Tim Hortons. The closest one is 40 mins away from me in the next town over, and whenever my mom drives over for a visit, we go so I can get my Timmy’s fix.
