NEW Gardening Stuff!
We’ve produced some new products for spring, both of which are a LONG time coming.
I’ve been using “Gardening for the People” as the You Grow Girl slogan for years now (in case you’re curious the first slogan used back in 2000 was “Secrets of the Plant Kingdom Revealed”). The mug (I often drink my morning tea from it) and a bunch of buttons have been in circulation for a while so it was only fitting that we make it into a shirt.*
“Poo Powered” is another long-time graphic that I originally designed to celebrate manure as a fertilizer. It was also a good excuse to make a graphic featuring poo. Over time customers starting buying the buttons for their kids. An association with babies and their superhero poo-making abilities is not a big leap to make. And so, the “Poo Powered” onesie was born.
*I want to apologize for the image quality. The colors are so much nicer and brighter. Real photos will come once I catch up on the fallout from Sick Week 2009. Another thing Sick Week 2009 glossed over was You Grow Girl’s 9th birthday! Actually, that was my fault. I let it slide. And then I stuck it down here where 5 people will see it.

I’m lovin the poo-powered onesie. I have two in diapers! I just started reading your blog a month or so ago and I love it. I’m looking forward to staring my first real garden this year.

Both of these are great. My boys are too old for onesies but it is still cute. I get the feeling more than t 5 people are going to see this. :-)

G, my gfs and I are *obsessed* with poo related things, as well as babies. That onesie is absolutely perfect!

I saw the “Poo Powered” onesie in the photo for Seedy Saturday, and was really bummed it wasn’t for sale! Guess I was just a week ahead of you :)

This reminds me, I’ve been trying to find a decent size flag for my yard with, “Victory Garden” on it. There’s all sorts of garden flags out there but nothing with Victory Garden on it. Any tips or advice on that one would be awesome!

I remember seeing in a museum/art gallery in Dublin some work about Victorian (?) women botanists (stomped over by their male counterparts) and there was some poetry written for the exhibition - of which I remember the lines
“she plants her feet
digs in her heels and grows her own standing”
which I always feel is very empowering.
