‘Chocolate Cherry’ Sunflower: Full Coverage

My mad love for the ‘Chocolate Cherry’ sunflower has resulted in almost daily mini photo sessions, capturing it at every stage of development and possible angle. I’ve come to realize that if I continued posting updates as part of the Daily Botanical you’ll be stuck looking at pictures everyday for weeks. It just makes more sense to get it all out of my system now.

That should cover it. Although, I’ve got some Polaroids that are nice and I am yet to process the medium format shots….

Ooooohhhh, beautiful! I grew Italian Whites which I’ve been boring everyone with and these would look so cool with it…

I’m just impressed with your ability to photograph them. My Cinnamon Sunflowers (of a similar color) just want to suck in the light, which makes it hard to get a good shot.

Meryl: Thank you. I shoot manually which allows me to control the settings.
Brenda: Yes they would look nice together.

I planted a sunflower mix this year and wasn’t sure what would turn up. One of these guys just opened up here today, and I’m so glad to know what it’s called! Mighty delicious looking, too.

Beautiful! Though I’m a bit jealous. My first attempt at sunflowers have been ruined by the wild finches. Nothing sprouted because by the time I learned to cover the pot with a screen, I believe the birds took to them. Plus, you have bees! My environment has been struck by the deadly bee mite! So enjoy them and hopefully, the bee problem doesn’t get to you.

Gorgeous shots! You should come by my place and take some pics in the mum field :) Only 50,000 pots left to go.

My daughter and I LOVE this sunflower, we also the LOVE the photography. We have the info on the flower, can we get the scoop on what type/model camera was used! Fabulous!

Vikki and Kelsey: Thank you!
I use an assortment of cameras to do the photography on this site but the shots in this post are using an older digital SLR. I don’t want to recommend the model because to be honest the digital and digital SLR market has exploded since mine came out several years ago and there are now smaller and even better models that go for cheaper.
I recommend looking at dpreview.com which has very good reviews of most camera models.
