Daily Botanical: Field of Violets (Viola sororia)

I thought I had certain areas of the city thoroughly mapped out based on the flowers that live there and when they bloom, but yesterday I discovered a huge field of blooming violets that I had not been aware existed. Colour has returned to my city.
If you look closely you can see a little flying insect in the foreground. The world is alive again. I am soaking it all up, not taking anything for granted.

Oh, this is *so* gorgeous! My mother just gave me a big bucket of violets yesterday and I can’t wait for them to spread about. Great photo :)

This is beautiful! You’re right, we shouldn’t take any of this lovely season for granted. :)

Beautiful. Love purple against the green. I just got a pot of hydrangeas at the nursery a few days ago. Cross my fingers it will bloom.
“The world is alive again” - that’s so true. I look out of my desk to watch the new bright pink flowers bloom on a tree and squirrels tree-hopping. Nothing beats the beauty of natural light and nature coming to life.

The little insect in the forground is a lovely moment captured in time. This is a gorgeous shot, as usual
