Domino Interview
“I don’t promote myself as an authority. I’m a person who really, really loves to garden. I know a thing or two but there is a ton I don’t know and will probably never know. I make mistakes. I experiment like crazy. I don’t have all of the answers, I don’t believe in that “right” one way to do things, I don’t have buckets of cash, a sprawling estate or a backyard even. There are a lot of people like me who want to grow something and that group of people have been mostly ignored by the gardening industry.“

Hi! I live in the Washington, DC area and LOVE your website. My husband and I recently moved to an apartment with a balcony so this year is my first attempt at gardening in VERY limited space.
I actually have a question– my brandywine tomato bush has green tomatoes that have a hard dark spot on the side– not the bottom. Do you know what this is? It doesn’t seem to fit the description of blossom-end rot. Should I be worried?

Rose: Definitely not blossom end rot since that does indeed only happen on the part where the blossom fell off (the bottom). Because it’s on green fruit I’m gonna guess “early blight.” It looks like this.
