Window Shopping
I’m a sucker for email newsletters. They offer information and window shopping all in
one great big ol’ job-distracting, e-mail notifying beep. So, imagine my surprise when today’s Best Bets from New York Magazine was gardencentric!
Granted, the suggestions are high-end, but the designs are enjoyable. I’m really taken with Oxo’s Pour and Store watering can, though I have no business buying one right now since I have a perfectly good $3 watering can at home, but this one is now stored in memory if one of the puppies decides to make my current one his next chew toy.
I can do without the $12 insecticidal soap, but it’s a viable option if you don’t have the time or resources to make your own. Even without purchasing, all the suggestions get the brain wandering and planning for spring.
What a perfect distraction for a 72 degree Fahrenheit, mid-winter’s day.

I’m not a big stuff promoter either but I also promoted the “Pour-and-Store” during the Holidays because there are a lot of people who need new cans and I also thought it had all the features a good can requires. The rose alone makes it a good and affordable purchase. And it ain’t ugly either!
On the insectidal soap I’d recommend a concentrate that you can add to water and your own spray bottle. I bought a 500mL bottle of “Wilson Organic Insecticidal Soap” for $9.99 so many years ago now that I can’t tell you how long ago that was… and I am JUST barely into it.
You can also make your own insecticidal soap using something from the “Dr. Bronner’s” line (they’ve got lavender and peppermint too) because it is pure castile soap and won’t hurt your plants.
