Bay Area Family Missing

I first read about the missing Kim family on A Minor Thread’s flickr page, where an image of a very serene and happy family’s picture struck me deeply.
They have been missing since November 25, 2006 and were last seen in Oregon driving a Saab station wagon with a California license plate “DOE SF.”
Though I don’t know the family personally, the news of them missing s heartbreaking to me and many, may others.
Please be on the lookout for them, and contact the police immediately if you see them or their car. Please bring them home safely. More information is available here.

Saw this on the news a few days back. My boyfriend had pointed out that “hey, that’s the Tech-TV guy!”. I hope they can be found alive and well, but it isn’t looking very good. The weather isn’t the best out there right now. If they are trapped in their car anywhere, I can’t imagine how cold and hungry they must be.
Such a shame. That’s one cute family who was obviously very loved; they have so many friends who are doing all they can to find them. My heart goes out to them.

They found the mother with her two kids, their car got stuck in the snow. The father went to get help on foot and is still missing. Hope they find him too.
Good to use this as a reminder to always carry extra water in your car (for drinking or for car radiators and batteries) and food if on a long trip. A candle with a lighter or matches is also necessary, especially if you are going to be traveling in winter weather.
This actually helped me once! My car broke down driving across Tennessee as I was returning to school from Texas after the holiday break. It suddenly started to snow hard and my car died in the middle of nowhere late in the evening. The temperature dropped to freezing fast and there was no traffic on the road because it was getting late and because the roads had turned bad. I couldn’t run the car to keep warm because it was totally dead. I had a candle in the car for emergencies and it kept me from freezing for almost five hours until a truck driver finally stopped to help me and got me a tow truck (which took another two hours!) Now I ALWAYS have a candle, a lighter, and an small blanket in my car no matter where I am!

They found James finally. He did not survive. What a shame this didn’t turn out to be a very happy ending. At least the mom and kids made it out fine.
