Two upcoming garden related events to tell those of you in the Vancouver environs about:

  • First up, if you’re a fan of Community Gardens and Buttless Chaps (by which I mean the band of course), come on down to the show at the Railway this Thursday night. The Chaps, Vancougar and Roger Dean Young and the Tin Cup are playing a benefit to help raise money to replace some tools recently stollen from the Cottonwood Community Gardens (and to get them a better lock for the shed). Doors are at 8pm, cover is around $10
  • Second, there’s a pretty snazzy looking permaculture workshop happening up the coast at the end of this month. Billed as the Permaculture Premie Weekend, the workshop is aimed at filling in “some of the obvious gaps in the learning of Permaculture arts - the “smelling, touching and talking to teachers” part that is missing from books and Cyberspace. Our goal is to provide experiences in handling plant and building materials so that we can more easily assimilate Permaculture concepts into our daily lives.” There’s more details at the Edible Landscapes web site, so check it out. The workshop is up in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast.
