At last…
So after leaving my little garden back 600 KM away in Vancouver, I’m left wondering “what does it look like now? Has it been mowed over, or is it being nurtured?”
Either way, I’ll never know so it’s time to drop it.
I’ve secured myself a living domicile here in wickedly-hot Nelson, B.C. A nice little apartment in a heritage building on the top floor with big bright windows just waiting to be covered in cacti and succulents.
It’s definitely weird not having a plant to your name, especially after you’ve lived and breathed plants for mostly all of your life. But this is something I plan to ratify as soon as humanly possible.
The nice thing is, despite the fact that I don’t have a balcony, outdoor gardening is available to me. I have a nice sill that will soon house a little container herb garden, and downstairs there is communal garden space for tenants, as well as an extremely sunny alley behind the building, where I’ve been told that I can grow tomatoes and whatever else I want. I want to try my hand at potatoes in the plastic bin, but I fear it’s far too late in the season to even try for that.
Still, I’m hell bent on at least getting a tomato plant and harvesting at least ONE tomato this year, otherwise I will feel cheated. Let’s see if I can still find somebody selling a tomato plant this year though. Our first frost date accroding to the Farmer’s Almanac is October 13th.
That’s almost two and a half months that I’m determined to do something with.

Good luck to you Kelly! You’ll probably be able to do quite a bit in that time. Once you have a few plants going, you’ll feel more at home. :D
