Richter’s 2006
The mere mention of the word “Richter’s” to my step-mom, Heather, this afternoon meant we were going on a short road trip!
It took about a half hour for us to get there, but man was it worth it. Imagine all the plants Richter’s brings to Canada Blooms or the herb fair, and then multiply it by…well, a lot. There’s a whole, big greenhouse full of all kinds of fun and unique herbs. And they aren’t all culinary. We’re talking more than just your average basils, oreganos & thymes. I caught a glimpse of the grow-op greenhouse when I went to the washroom and immediately thought of Gayla. (In fact, I called her.)
I managed to get away with only 9 plants and my wallet was lighter by about $40. Heather, on the other hand wasn’t so lucky. She picked a couple of white-tagged plants, one called “Lion’s Tail” and another called “Tea Tree”. Both very cool.
In my little flat, I left with:
Scented geraniums: Apple, Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Peppermint
Russian sage
Vick’s plant
Roman chamomile
Chinese lantern
Silver-edged lavendar
I potted most of these up tonight except for the Russian sage. Still trying to find the right spot for it, considering the size it will eventually get.
We MUST have a YGG field trip out there!

Everybody did okay outside overnight!

Is the tea tree a camellia or the antiseptic essential oil tea tree? either would be way cool to have and I am very envious!

Hey watch those chinese lanterns! Mine have officially become an invasive problem - they’re all growing up throughout the lawn now.
