Break Open Your Piggy Banks
I’ve been looking forward to the UBC Botanical Garden’s Perennial sale since… well since last year when I missed it. It’s coming up this Sunday here in Vancouver and I’ve been following Gayla’s advice and preparing in advance as much as possible (must find granny cart before the weekend!). To aid in my preparation I was initially thrilled to note that, for the first time ever, they have released a full listing of what plants will be available. I downloaded the perennials list (they also have one for trees/shrubs, vines and succulents) ready to print it out and start going over it with my trusty highlighter, when I looked and saw that it is 16 pages long! I don’t know if I’m ready for this folks. Sixteen pages! Kinda daunting. I may need to double my budget (again).

I live/garden in Los Angeles and I wish we had an equivalent sale nearby! I just discovered your site when I planted my humble summer veggie garden for the summer and was surfing the Web for slug repelling techniques. I’m definitely a newbie garderner (this is my third summer garden) and have a lot to learn from you ladies! I work as the content editor for a new Web site (we don’t launch until July) so I”m lucky if I can get around to watering every morning, I’m afraid. You gals are an inspiration!
