Frozen Red Tip

November 30, 2001.

I'm killing my ivy topiary. My frigging $30 ivy topiary. I just re-read my last journal where I said I hope I don't kill it. That was the kiss of death. I am heartbroken. Okay, enough of this self pity crap.

I want some orchids. I really want some orchids. But I don't want to pay the price for orchids. Why are these plants so expensive? Are they rare? Are orchids an endangered species? I don't think so since you can find them all over the places. Is there a monopoly on orchids that I don't know about?

I bought some kind of pine that can stay a house plant. It doesn't smell piney, though. Don't ask me what kind it is. I have no idea. I also don't know how big it will get. But if you go to Lowe's, you can probably find one (note that Lowe's has replaced the grocery store in my plant buying sprees).

I gave up on my majesty palm because I needed the pot. From this day forward, I will never buy another palm again. Y'all are my witnesses.

We had our first freeze Wednesday. It never got out of the 30s that day. The day my heater decided to crap out. I won't tell you what that cost to get fixed. Anyway, I didn't bother to cover my ficus. I'm just too lazy. So far it's hanging in there still. Some bulbs have sprouted in that pot. It must be the grape hyacinth.

I haven't been able to get in the Christmas spirit so far. I usually have to wait until after my birthday (which is next Friday, December 7th--ahem). I'm not feeling very crafty this year. Nothing has inspired me. I haven't even had the urge to bake yet. I'm not looking forward to putting out my Christmas crap. Probably because it's just more crap for me to dust.

But I did buy some Christmas M&M's!
