Frozen Red Tip

June 19, 2001.

Wow, I’ve really slacked off on this journal. Probably because nothing exciting is happening in my garden. In one of my previous journals I mentioned planting a bunch of morning glories in a window box for the window above my kitchen sink. That was a while ago, and I should have morning glories covering the whole damn window. I thought I’d have nasturtium and moon flowers entwining with the morning glories. I thought my dishes would be done every five minutes because of this damn box. No, all I have is a few measly seedlings that are no step closer to blooming than they were the day I planted the seeds. Because I suck.

My zinnias were doing well until the got some fungus on them. I posted on the forums (y’all need to start posting on the forums! Don’t be shy!) about my problem and Gayla posted a solution to get rid of it and it worked! But I lost some of them and now they aren’t as perky and full as they once were. Because I suck.

I’m killing my dianthus and I don’t know why. Because I suck.

BUT, I do not suck at growing lantanas. I just love, love, love lantanas. You can just put them in the ground and forget about them. Which I have. My window boxes in the front are doing ok. Some stuff is starting to bloom that I planted from seed and transplanted many times, so I’m surprised they survived. I don’t remember what they are, though (because I suck, remember?). And my purslane and moss rose are blooming again after re-seeding from last year. My pineapple top that I learned how to grow from this site is kicking ass and taking names. I’ve acquired some new indoor plants that are doing just fine. Probably because they don’t have to sit out in the heat like my other plants and probably because I water them a hell of a lot more than I do the outside plants. I don’t spend any more time in the humidity than I have to, so if that means a plant will croak, then so be it. That’s right, I suck.

Boy, I sound really bitter. :) :) :)
