Sugar and Spice and Martha's not nice

Ugh...I feel sick. I've been trying to stay away from sugar as I am a sugar junkie. So today I started making Christmas cookies. What does this have to do with gardening, you ask? Well, I made Christmas trees cookies. I even colored the dough green. See? Trees=has to do with gardening. Anyway, I've probably eaten at least 10 or more cookies worth of dough, hence, the sick feeling.

So...

My Christmas cactus is all that and a bag of cookies (screw the chips, I like cookies better). It looks way better than anything I've seen in the stores! And all the buds have stayed on the plant. I did find one on the floor this morning. I'm sure one of my boys are to blame for that one. My youngest has a habit of picking at my plants. Either that or it fell off from the sound of his voice because he is so damn LOUD!

I bought a couple of poinsettias. I'm gonna keep them and see if they bloom next year by themselves. Maybe my good luck will continue of getting plants to bloom without any effort. They better because I bought two of them and they were $11.99 each! Maybe I should ask the Magic 8-ball. Or maybe not. It seems to like Gayla better than me. Effer. (The 8-ball, not you, Gayla!)

I also bought a cyclaman. I picked up some women's magazine (Woman's Day--It was for the cookie recipes that I'll never make) and that had some advertisment to buy this plant. Supposedly, it's supposed to bloom through spring. It also said that it has a cinnammon scent. Could have fooled me, but what do I know? My nose has been so stuffed up from the damn cedar floating around. Is this plant a bulb? I couldn't tell.

Speaking of bulbs, I finally got around to buying some. I bought my favorites, freeshias. I bought some other shit, but I forgot what they were. For all I know, the squirrels have eaten them already. You know, I really don't feel bad when I see a squirrel flattened on the street. Serves them right for eating my seeds and plants.

Well, I had some some pictures to show you, but XP doesn't like my crappy ass camera and fails to recognize the USB connector. I got it to work the other day after many frustrating tries, but now it won't. It also doesn't recognize my sound card. And since this isn't a computer my husband uses, it doesn't get fixed right away.

I read the book Martha, Inc.. Just as I suspected, Martha doesn't lift a damn finger. She uses and abuses and has others do her job for her and that's why it looks so easy! Why can't I sucker people into doing things for me? I need to start treating people like shit so I can have the perfect garden, dammit! I need to find someone to hunt the backwoods for the perfect berries for my table settings! Not that I set my table, ever. Hell, I'd be happy if someone made my bed in the morning, cuz it certainly ain't me.

Anyway... I hope y'all have a wonderful holiday season. I'm hightailing it out of Texas for a week to California to visit my family. Watch, as soon as I leave, it will snow here.

See you in 2003!
