Green Thumb-O-Rama
Oh. My. God. I am scaring myself over here with getting my plants to bloom without even trying. A few years ago I wrote about buying my one and only copy ever of Martha Stewart's Living magazine. The only reason I bought it was because it had an article on how to get a Christmas Cactus to bloom. I had one sitting on top of my entertainment center that never, ever bloomed. I'm pretty sure that the room it was in had a lot to do with it. Since it was in the family room, there was always a light on and to get them to bloom they need to have a period of darkness. Plus, it sat right underneath the air vent and was in a way too small pot. I'm sure that didn't help either.
So I stuck it in a bigger pot and put it outside and now it has buds. First my orchid and now this! And last year, my kalanchoe bloomed because I stuck it outside. I triple rock! No...I effing rock! I rock so hard that I'm gonna try and get a poinsettia to bloom!
I need to go and write a book. I think I'll call it Lazy Ass Gardening for Dummies. I'm gonna be rich! And then I'll lose my empire because of insider trading.
Anyway...I was at Lowe's the other day. They had some more half dead orchids for $10 again. I was feeling frisky, but didn't buy any because I was there to buy some paint. I didn't end up buying anything and ended up at Home Depot instead. But all I bought was paint. I think I may go back this weekend and get some more orchids if they have other kinds besides dendrobium.

Check out the flowers. I really did get a bargain because it has two different colors! Woo!
I still have some stuff blooming outside. It's been getting down in the 40s at night, so I'm sure that will start tapering off. If my baby crepe myrtles survive it will be a miracle. I always see lots of little hands picking at them.
Damn kids!
