Nursery Trip

Out of the blue today, I decided to go to my local nursery. I love this place and could spend hours there. They've got Koi ponds and landscaping everywhere. Even if you don't buy anything, it's fun just to look around. And the best part is one of the ladies who works there. I think she's one of the owners or something but I get such a kick out of her because she has like 4 teeth and isn't afraid to show it. Today I was telling her how I could spend a fortune here and asked her where I could find the fertilizer tablets for the crepe myrtles I was buying. She happily told me between puffs of her Camel non-filter that they were by the register. I don't know if that really was the brand she smokes but she looked like it would be her cigarette of choice. That and a few shots of Scotch.

So I ended up buying crepe myrtles, firespikes, vincas, dianthus and coral honeysuckle. coral honeysuckle.JPG That's not a great picture of the coral honeysuckle, but I'm too lazy to go out and take another picture. It's a cool plant, although it doesn't smell. My idea is for it to climb up the dead ficus tree. I'm getting a lot of use out of that dead tree. First, it was a real tree, then I made it a morning glory and moon flower tree, but when one doesn't go outside and water said flowers, they die. So now it's this. Recycling at it's finest.

I'm also attempting to grow crepe myrtle and lantana from seed. So far, nothing has sprouted yet. When I was at the nursery, I checked out a mimosa tree to see if that's what I had growing from the seeds I swiped from my neighbor. All the pictures online pointed to yes, but at the nursery, the signs pointed to no. They had a tree that had the same kind of leaves as my seedling, but I am lame and don't remember what it was. I'm so confused. So, I must once again consult the Magic 8-ball. Magic 8-ball says, "Very Doubtful".

See, even it is confused.
