It's hot!
Once again it's that time of year when it's too frigging hot outside. As I type this at 6:28pm Central time, it is still 98 degrees. They keep promising us rain, but I'll believe it when I see it. So will the impatiens. They look like they are on their last leg. Anyway, if y'all are keeping tabs, I'm in Month 2 of my I Hate Texas campaign.
My new flower beds are surviving...so far. I guess having the sprinklers on them each day helps. I bet those flowers can't wait for their 2am fix of 6 minutes of water. Well, they better soak it up while they can because we are just about to go into water rationing once again (as we do every year) and they are going to be chopped off to once a week. I think I'm allowed to water on Tuesdays by sprinkler. I can still water by hose, though. If my flowers are lucky, that is.

Don't you love that lovley red extension cord in the picture? I think it really adds something to it. If I had known that the zinnias were going to grow to 3 feet, I would have planted them in the back. I've got stuff growing in there that I have no idea what they are. I've got a vine that's growing out of control. It could quite possibly be moon flowers. It's probably weeds.

I know y'all are just dying to know my bargain orchid is doing. I'm am pleased to announce that it is getting new shoots and is doing just fine despite what the person who sent me an email that basically said that I had no business even attempting to try and grow a bargain orchid and was all offended that I had the nerve to try thinks. In fact, I took out a stalk that I thought had croaked and left it laying on the patio at least for a month with no water. And even that got new shoots! So there!
On the indoor front, I am attempting to make a topiary out of pothos aka devil's ivy. Normally, this is made out of English Ivy, but I killed it. It's pretty cheesy looking right now, but it could turn into something beautiful. Maybe I'll start a new trend in topiary! Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead and buy a 'faux' topiary. Maybe I should just try and remember to water all my indoor plants more often so that don't prick me when I'm trying to snap off their dead pine needles. Maybe I need to end this entry to go do a rain dance.
Oh, and my husband killed one of my bougainvillea with the weed whacker.
Sigh.
