Shelly vs the Squirrels

Yikes! It's been awhile since I updated! Well, I won't bore y'all with the reasons why I haven't unless you really want to hear about family visiting, tiling the floor, refinancing the house, pneumonia, etc.

The squirrels must DIE!!! Those mofos have been eating my seeds. I couldn't figure out why some vines that I planted hadn't sprouted yet. I noticed that the dirt in my pots looked like someone had been digging through them. Then this morning I caught one in the act as I was pulling in the driveway. The squirrel just looked at me like, "Yeah, so? Whaddya gonna do about it?" Yeah, well I hope a sunflower, morning glory, nasturtium and/or moon flower grows out your ass. And this is the thanks I get for throwing out stale pieces of bread on the lawn for them.

How did they know there were seeds in my pots? I already had blooming flowers in them. Were they spying on me? Have they been planning this for weeks? Were they mad at me because I gave them Orowheat Light and Ironkids bread? Maybe I should have splurged for a baguette.

I killed my ficus tree. My beloved ficus tree. I was too lazy to cover it this year and we had a few hard freezes. So I planted some vines that the frigging squirrels have munched on and thought I'd let them wind up the dead tree. It sounded good at the time, we'll see what the results are with the few that did escape the squirrels wrath.

I also had some vines sprouting along our fence. I painstakingly marked where they were so my husband would notice them. He noticed the bright yellow stakes and proceeded to blow away all my seedlings with the leaf blower. His excuse was that he thought I had just planted seeds and didn't know that were already sprouting.
