Winter Colour

Despite it being winter here and bloody cold, some of my favourite flowers are now in bloom in the garden. It makes it worth rugging up and curling up outside with a cup of tea rather than huddling in front of the heater all day.

One of my absolute favourites is the native violet. I am not sure how these plants differ from regular violets. Maybe they get that name because they are native to Australia. Anyway they are flowering profusely at the moment. They were growing wild in my last garden so I transplanted stacks of them when I moved here. They are so easy to grow and are really excellent as a ground cover. I will post some pics soon.

Other things that are flowering include my white geranium which I love. And also a black violas which seems to just randomly bloom whenever I think it is about finished. Black flowers are wonderful. They are so dramatic.

Apart from that I have been a lazy bones in the garden. There isn't much to do at this time of year and, because I am moving soon, I am not about to start planning any big changes. So basically it is just a case of giving the pots an occasional water to keep them alive.
