Tuesday August 22, 2000.

On Friday I got a phone call from my Landlord informing me that a certain Neighbourhood Association will be taking my garden away from me. They applied for a permit from The City and it has been accepted. He suggested that they get in touch with me to let me know what is going on but of course they haven't. What's awful is that I am positive that my neighbour is possibly in charge of this project and knows who I am and that I have this garden there but didn't bother to let me know. It takes time to get a permit from The City and yet they watched me tending my garden for an unspecified amount of time without bothering to say a word. That's really underhanded and that's what bugs me the most. So now all the work I put into amending the soil, and all the labour and money has gone to shit because it all has to be ripped out so that they can stick up a concrete box and fire some soil and plants into it.

Now all my plants have to find a new home. Thankfully Wing Chun and Glark have agreed to adopt some of my plants into their new garden. Beate has agreed to take some for hers. Hopefully that will cover everything off. The drag is I have to do all of this pronto so that the plants have time to assimilate to their new environment before the cold season comes. All of this and I still haven't actually heard a word from the people responsible.

That same Friday I was feeling miserable and unproductive, not just because of the invasion of the garden snatchers, but because on grey days my mood corresponds with the weather. On sunny days the rest of the world seems to want to go outside oand frolic, but I always want to stay in and work since I'm more awake. On grey, rainy days I either want to sleep or go outside so I can force my body and mind to function. So we decided to pack up work and go to High Park (a large Toronto Park). It was just what I needed. Despite the rain and the cold dampness it was still better then sitting inside moping about my loss and calling people up to whine about it.

I have been to High Park quite a lot in the last few years but haven't been down to the water front of Grenadier Pond in quite some time. I was impressed to see that they have put in native wildflowers all along the water's edge. I walked amongst the flowers and took a lot of photos which you can imagine did great things for my allergy problems considering they were all out in full bloom and it is allergy season.

I actually took about 200 photos with the digital camera that day. I'm surprised at how many of them came out well since it's basically a point and shoot camera. Especially after it rained and the plants had drops of water on them. Doesn't everyone love the good ole sexual water on plants photos? Obviously I'm not going to bother putting up 200 photos but here's a few.
