Yesterday I did some serious work on the garden. This morning when I woke up I couldn't figure out why my back hurt so much. That's the thing with gardening. I don't realize how much work it is while I'm doing it. It's like being a kid and playing around in the dirt. I never wear gloves when I am doing the actual planting. I don't care about getting my hands and nails dirty. I'm sure germ-phobic people everywhere are cringing right now.
I finally gave up and rid myself of the evil Lemon Catnip. Learn from my mistakes. Do not plant this in your garden. It went crazy and took over everything. I'm sure I'll be removing seedlings for years to come. My cat didn't even like it. It was prone to Powdery Mildew disease. But I couldn't get rid of it because I have a guilty conscience about just outright destroying plants. But this year I'd had enough and I dug the mother up and threw it out. In the end I was weak and decided to keep 2 big chunks of it for the deck. All of a sudden my cat had decided she likes it. If you would like some seeds I am giving them away FREE. Remember it only takes 1 plant. Use with caution.
I'm happy to report that 2 people stopped to comment on how good the garden looks. I even gave one woman some advice and she said she envied my garden. My garden? The one that people see fit to piss in. And their little dogs too. After that I couldn't help but feel like I was the shit and that my garden kicked ass! Screw you piss people.
I'm really glad it's raining today. I like to plant new plants during a period of rain because the plants get a head start with lots of water and they aren't bombarded with hot sun while they adjust to a new environment. It just makes sense.
I'm still not done with the planting. I have a few plants that I couldn't figure out a place for. So then I went out and couldn't resist buying a few more plants. I bought a Foxglove (Digitalis) for the part shade garden (aka bathroom garden), and some Dill (Anethum graveolens) and Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) for the deck. This year I went all out for herbs. I will not be lacking for anything. Here's some pictures.
