Name My Plant and Amaryllis

The amaryllis turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Okay it's a beautiful flower, I won't deny that. However, I had been led to believe I was buying a miniature and this plant is no miniature. The stalk itself is just as big as the 'red lion' and the flowers are from what I can remember as large as the 'red lion'. I've seen miniature amaryllis and this isn't one. Plus the photo on the box shows miniature flowers. The flowers on my plant are much longer. Okay the box also shows a plant with literally 19 fully open blooms so I'm pretty sure "authenticity" wasn't their goal when they designed the box.
It's not a loss. The plant is beautiful and the flowers are my favourite shade of red. But I already have a 'Red Lion' and I had bought this bulb so I could branch out my amaryllis collection with something new. Cry.
Nepenthes I Love You
I've decided that Nepenthes needs a name. I'm thinking of naming her (steps towards anthropomorphization are in effect) Scylla after my grandmother who was in turn named after the sea goddess who in Greek mythology trapped and destroyed sailors -- or in this case little insects.
Got a better idea? Email me. If I pick yours I'll send you some You Grow Girl buttons and a YGG or Garden Hoe tee shirt in the style and size of your choice.
Another of the three main pitchers on the Nepenthes is dying off. There is only one large one left and even that is starting to dry up at the lip. I took those photos just in time. The baby pitcher is still tiny (now this can be referred to as "miniature". I looked for The Savage Garden in book stores in town but couldn't find it. I guess I'll have to order off Amazon.ca (I'm Canadian). I looked at the index of this book (available online) and it looks like there is quite a lot on Nepenthes. One thing I REALLY need to find out about is dormancy and I haven't found anything online yet.
