Voodoo Lily
Voodoo Lily corm
At the C.N.E this year I purchased a Voodoo Lily (Arum cornutum) corm. According to the instructions you literally do nothing until after it is done flowering. By 'nothing' I mean no planting, no soil, no water, no sun (but some light) and magically a stinky, beautiful flower springs forth from an ugly, brown blob!
I recently got around to doing the nothing that was removing it from the brown paper bag it came in (apparantly the task was so difficult it took me weeks to do it) and placed it on a pretty plate. A small bloom has been slowly emerging and I can now see little specks on it. Once it blooms I am going to have to remove it from its current location behind my desk as apparantly the stench the flower emits is ripe to say the least.
