The Secret Life of Plants
On Saturday I bought a used vinyl copy of Stevie Wonder's "The Secret Life of Plants", his soundtrack to the documentary film of the same name from 1979. I saw the documentary months ago and even though I remember a fair amount of cheese, I bought the album anyways because it came out just after "Songs in the Key of Life" and that's a great album! To be honest I can't remember if the cheesiness was in the music or in the interpretive dance that accompanied it. I can't really say much about the album right now because I just started listening to it.

Today was the first sunny day we've had in a while. As soon as the sun is out I'm outside with my camera. I took this one of the sage flowers this morning. I can't imagine these will be flowering for much longer so I've been taking cuttings and making little arrangements of them for my desk while they're still available.
The sunrise III tomato (determinate cherry) plant is producing flowers. Very exciting! Tomatoes are coming. Speaking of tomatoes, the newest issue of Garden Design arrived in the mail today and the full page photo of heirloom tomatoes made me drool. So beautiful. You can't buy that in a store.
Lots of other plants are blooming lately. I used to list off what's in bloom but frankly I'm much too lazy to list them all. I'll list a few: African Blue Basil, Lavandula angustifolia 'Lady', sacred basil, hyssop (firebird), sage, strawberries, dianthus, thyme, catmint, chives, kale, lobelia, feverfew, and hens and chicks.
