I will absolutely be there. Should we set a time and place to meet? I'm thinking noon at the outdoor bathrooms.

I'd love to go, depending on the day... but I won't be buying anything as I'm about to move. I would like to see what they have and what you all are interested in picking up. I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

That sounds like a good plan, Gayla. Maybe this time we could all grab a bite or a drink afterward.

This is at the Harbourfront, right? There's any number of semi-touristy place to go... a bunch in Queen's Quay, a couple of places where you can sit outside by the water. We can walk around to check them out.

I also believe there should be some kind of an international crafts sale/food fair going on outside by then.

um, I know I'm a newbie, but maybe can I come too? I was planning on going solo, but it'd be awesome to go with people who know so much about gardening.

I'd like to come as well if that's ok with everyone else. I don't imagine I'll be contributing much to any in-depth conversations as I'm really new to all of this, but I'd love to listen to what others are talking about. I'm quite eager to learn and meet some of the knowledgeable "old growth" that will be there.

The more the better! And I disagree about the newbie thing. I think everyone has something to offer regardless of their experience level.

That said, I've got some extras I can bring along if anyone is interested. just let me know ahead of time so i can pot them up. So far I have plume poppy, anise-hyssop, and wormwood. I can also bring scented geranium cuttings if anyone is interested, African violet leaves, little babies from a succulent I haven't identified, and Hatiora cuttings.

That would be a possibility. What day is that? I am up to my eyeballs in annuals right now. Can't think straight.

Yes, horseradish can be brought! Do you have anything cool to trade?

I have spare ceylon, yellow pear and pole tomatoes (one of each) left over after planting but that's about it. The rest are seeds. Interested at all?

I have a number of eggplant seedlings (the skinny Asian kind... very yummy) that need homes, if anyone would like them. They should do well in a container or in the ground.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone next Sunday. We're meeting at Noon, right? Which outdoor bathrooms did you mean, Gayla?

Behind the Harbourfront building there is a small lawn and then the water. If they set it up as they always do you should see the outdoor tent where the herb sellers are located. There's a small building that houses the bathrooms next to the lawn situated to the south.

Did that help at all or just confuse everyone even more?

I know what some of you look like so I'll be looking out. Here's a photo of me if anyone needs a visual cue:

oh, that helps Gayla, thanks Smile

I've met you and Sarah - and I think I can recognize Amy and Gillian from their photos. I'll have super-short hair by next weekend but hopefully my dorky face will still be recognizable Wink

I'm pretty sure I can find Gayla in a crowd. And I think I could probably do the same with Sakura & Amy.

I imagine David will come along as well since he's obsessed with herbs. He'll be the guy with the curly mop on his head and most likely at least 2 cameras in tow.

I'm sure I'll be able to pick you out of a crowd too.

See you there. I'm looking forward to it!

And by the way, my name's Sanja. Smile I know, shocking, gnomenclature's not my real name....

hey Toronto/GTA folk,

I was just on the phone with Sarah to finalize our plan to go to Ward's Island to do some birdwatching tomorrow afternoon. The weather's so-so all weekend, but between walking around and hanging out at the cafe there, we figure it should be a good afternoon excursion. Sarah has a canoe on the island which we might be able to use to scope out the birdies. I also have a friend on Ward's who has a lovely garden there - if he's home, we might be able to get a little tour.

Anyone else want to come along? Sarah suggested that Gayla goes over there quite a bit and that we might be able to talk her into coming along tomorrow... everyone else is welcome too, of course Wink

We're meeting at the ferry docks to make the 12:45pm ferry to Ward's... I think both of us will be on our bikes.

Sorry it's last minute (we were actually thinking about today, then spaced out) but maybe we'll see you there?

sakura

Oh I am so very, very tempted! Sarah got me hooked on the island in fact and it is now my favourite place to visit. I am about to leave for a housewarming party so it depends on how soon I get back tonight and if I get some work done... I have a deadline and was planning to do a bunch of work tomorrow. But it would be so fun! I have binoculars too. I really, really need to get a bird field guide.

Good about bikes. I like riding there and find it very liberating riding around the island with no cars to worry about.

If I can make it I will just show up in time for the ferry or try to post here tomorrow morning.
