I have an issue with little black bugs, they look like fruit flies. DH said that he thought he saw them flying out of one of our house plants. They are VERY pesky and I have no idea how to get rid of them. I am thinking they are fungus gnats, but really do not know, any help would be appreciated.

They do sound like fungus gnats. To get rid of them you need to end their cycle, the adult flies lay eggs in the soil, which hatch into larvae and then turn into flies. The larvae can't live in dry soil, so if you let the soil dry out between watering it should get rid of them. You can also spread a layer of sand over top of the soil, the adult flies won't lay eggs on non-organic material.
