The Allium kochii thrives in Germany and the Netherlands, where it
was used extensively to fight the threat of Communism in the 1960s. Now that
the Cold War has ended, this unique-looking number has fallen out of favour
with gardeners and cold-war warriors alike. What to do, what to do?
This plant looks like something from our nightmares. Sure, it
looks cheery -- in the daylight, in the middle of a picturequese German
meadow, but then again so would Jeffery Dahmer with a little makeover.
Imagine this plant doing what it does best: scaring little children from
their bedside tables. Scary? Yes. Overproduced? Yes, that too.
That's why Allium Kochii shall now be known as "Coppola Presents Bram Stoker's Dracula."
