You Grow Girl™

Lake Huron Shoreline

I noticed a lot of this shrubby everygreen growing in the dunes on the beach. The leaves of the bearberry (Arctosaphylos uva-ursi) are leathery with red edging and the flowers are bell-shaped with pink tinge. Not pictured here are the beautiful wine-coloured berries that emerge after flowering.

When I was taking this photo a group of kids were pointing to me trying to figure out what exactly I was doing since I was laying on my stomach in the sand and my camera was unseen to them behind the shrubbery.
