After nearly two decades living in a cramped apartment and growing anywhere I could find space, I have moved into a house with a typically small, but glorious urban backyard. It is dreamy. Over the next five months, my spouse Davin and I will completely transform our bowling alley yard from a bumpy, misshapen mess into a productive, yet attractive kitchen garden that we hope will meet most if not all of our fresh produce needs through to the winter and possibly beyond.
Urban Potager Project (aka Orto Garden)
We’re looking for a like-minded company to sponsor a bi-weekly renovation diary chronicling the complete build (from soil and plants, to hardscaping and more) to be hosted on You Grow Girl™.
As always, our approach is centred on organic methods, sustainability, D.I.Y, and thriftiness. Building projects will make use of as many recycled and/or environmentally safe materials as possible.
