It’s in the ginger family. It’s amazingly bright and dyed my fingers when I grated it. Despite a thorough scrubbing, I looked like a hardcore smoker for a few days afterward.
I know just what you mean! I use kurkuma regularly in curries and North African stews, and have learned not to be lacksadaisical and actually use a spoon to measure!
When I need to grate it, I usually use one time gloves (you know, disposable gloves like medical).
Beautiful! And so good for you, too.
The healing and general health benefits of turmeric are not widely known. When I had a large and painful cyst develop, I looked on the internet for information. I wasn’t enthusiastic about the standard medical procedures so I decided to look for ‘natural’ treatments and found many references to curcumin, the primary ingredient of turmeric. After a few months taking curcumin capsules daily, the cyst is gone – no surgery, no drugs, and no side effects.
