Don’t onion seedlings make you think of tiny little alien tentacles or periscopes rising up from the soil?

p.s. If you sow too much, the sprouts are edible, too.

  7. Oh my, I guess those flat round leaves in my garden aren’t onions. How long do onion seeds take to sprout?

  8. Donna: Usually less-than a week.

Flat leaves tend to be garlic or garlic chives. Round are onions or regular chives.

  9. Thanks, Gayla. I just looked in my garden. The onions are sprouting! This is exciting to me. They look almost exactly like the picture on this website.
