I know these are bad. They’re the scourge of the California Coast and whatnot. But they sure are pretty, especially when they’re blooming. Which is what they were doing when I was there in April.

  1. Isn’t this the plant (the pinkish kind) that blooms all along the coast in Monterey/Pacific Grove? I always thought they were very pretty.

  2. They are very pretty, but then again so is Scotch Broom. :(

  3. We used to have Ice Plant olympics at my college in Monterey where you would get prizes based on how tall your pile was/how much iceplant you removed. ;o) All in the name of bringing back native plants, of course!

  4. Ah, another invasive that I have wrongly loved…Can I at least dream that the some of the native plants might be pink?

  5. You’re in luck, Kim – there are a ton of California natives that have pink flowers. :o) Sea thrift (Armeria maritima) is one of my favorites…it’s just so cute!
