Simon Says Wha?

Gayla Trail

According to the Simon & Schuster blog, I rank number 9 (for “You Grow Girl“) in Simon & Schuster’s list of top selling Canadian authors so far in 2007. That’s only 3 places behind Canadian artist/writer/designer mega star Douglas Coupland (for his two S&S published books “Shampoo Planet” and “Life After God.”)

My mind is officially blown.

  1. Well, that’s just fitting…because I bought your book at Chapters today. Can’t wait to crack open a Schooner and start reading.

Hey, You GO Girl! High five!

  2. That is so fucking fantastic Gayla! I’d say I’m surprised too, but it’s such a fabulous book, I’m really not ;). Congradulations!

  3. wow congratulations Gayla this is truely a blessing. As corny as it sounds and being so new to the site. I’m really proud of you and I can see why you are ranked number nine so far this year. here’s going for #1 Hurray You Grow Girl!

  4. Congrats Gayla! As Kelly put it so eloquently, it’s fucking fantastic! =)

excellent news gayla. good on ya!

  6. wowee! that’s so cool. all that hard work paying off! :)

  7. Give it a little longer, G, another great book and a little more time for Douglas Coupland to write a couple more dull books (All Families are Psychotic, anyone??) and you’ll be well above him in ranks!

I think I’ve recommended your book far more often than any of his!
    Congratulations, you deserve it!!

  8. CONGRATS!
It really is an excellent book! I tell all the fellow gardeners, or wannabes, about it. Hell I was a wannabe before the hubby gave me your book and I found this site. It is all AWESOME!
    Congrats, again

  9. Woo-hoo! Very cool. I loaned my copy out and now I want to just buy another one because I kind of miss it! I’ve also bought it as a gift for people. Yay Gayla!

  10. Also, you beat out Tommy Chong! Kickass. ha

  11. Thanks to you all for indulging my enthusiasm and for your support! Who knew being #9 would be such a positive?

  12. Congratulations, that’s wonderful though unsurprising, it’s such a wonderful book.

    I can’t believe Chong’s Canadian–my world’s turned upside-down.

  13. gwe, if you dig deep enough, it seems _everyone_ is canadian. ;p

  14. 9 is a magic number, even better than 1! I bought your book a couple of years ago, just when I started gardening, and it’s been so helpful, but better than that: fun! I especially love the fabric covered journal, which I just made in summer instead of winter, so I can record what looks good when and plot accordingly…

  15. Congratulations!

  16. > gwe, if you dig deep enough, it seems _everyone_ is canadian. ;p

Please dig deep on me, then. This United Statesian needs to hitch up the Conestoga wagon. It’s BC or bust!

Gayla, congratulations! That’s great news! And well-deserved.

  17. I kind of discovered you backwards – found your incredible site about 3 mo.s ago & just ordered your book. I’m like a kid w/ ants in my pants – can’t wait for the book to come! Just like everyone else that left comments, I too have recommended your site (& book) to everyone that I’m around – just spredding the garden goodness. I’m so happy for your #9 ranking – how cool is that!! I hope you don’t get swept up in the Canadian “celebrity” rush & forget about us – haha! Just kidding – enjoy every minute of it, you deserve it GURL!!

  18. I had never heard of your book and last week I was shopping in Winners and I had seen your book and I couldn’t believe it was only 4.99! Original price was 10.00 but even at 15.00 I would have bought this book.. I am so glad that I bought it. It’s so cute. My lil gem of a hand book for my self who’s wishing her thumb would turn green =)

  19. Gayla! That’s great news! Congrats! When’s the #9 party??

    Tina

  20. That is so great! Congrats on the #9 ranking – well deserved!
